Backwashing Filter Installation in Glen Carbon, IL

Backwashing Filter Installation in Glen Carbon, IL

A backwashing filter uses a control valve on top of a mineral tank to reverse the water flow on a timer. That flush lifts the media bed, clears trapped particles and sends them down the drain. For Glen Carbon, IL homes with heavy sediment, iron or high water use, a backwashing tank can outlast cartridge systems by a wide margin.

Glen Carbon, IL Whole House Water Filtration handles the full install:

• Mounting the tank and control head on a level base
• Plumbing inlet, outlet and a bypass valve
• Running the drain line with a proper air gap to prevent back-siphoning
• Setting the backwash schedule and duration for your water

Backwash flow rate matters. A 10 inch tank of carbon might need 5 to 7 GPM during backwash. If your well pump or city supply cannot deliver that, the media will not lift and clean properly. We check that before we choose the tank.

The control head needs a standard outlet within reach of its power cord, and the drain needs a spot that can take the flow, such as a standpipe or floor drain.
